Don was born March 26, 1932 in Atlanta, a son of Daniel & Murella Fannie (Stryker) Fairbrother. Don was a veteran of the US Army, serving in the Korean Conflict from 1952 to 1954. He married Edna M, Fleishman on September 21, 1956; she predeceased him on December 5, 2006. Don was a kiln operator at Gunlocke Chair Factory, retiring in 1997. In addition to his parents and wife, Don was also predeceased by a grandson, Cory Drum, brothers & sisters, Gerard "Bud" Fairbrother, Betty Gonyea, Joyce Guerette, Laura Emmons and Kathleen Zeh. .
Don was a member of the Atlanta Presbyterian Church
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and taking drives in his car all over the area; but most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his son, Rick (Wendy) Fairbrother, Connie (Carl) Drum, Teresa (Jeff) Clark, Penny (Allen) Schumacher and Barry (Idella) Fairbrother; 13 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; his siblings, (twin) Donna (Jay) Flint, Glenn (Donna) Fairbrother, Charles (Shirley) Fairbrother, Geraldine Bolster, Ernestine Schubmehl and Wilma Gibson; brother-in-law, Maurice Guerette; several nieces, nephews & cousins.
Friends may call 2-4 & 6-8 pm Tuesday at the Walter E. Baird & Sons Funeral Home, 300 West Naples St., Wayland, where funeral services will be held 2 pm, Wednesday. Burial with full military honors will be in Clearview Cemetery, N. Cohocton.
