Biography
David was born February 2, 1926, the son of the late David & Amelia Lewis. He was a graduate of Monessen High School. He was a veteran of the US Army Air Corps, serving during World War II as a mechanic for B17 and B25 bombers. David married Eleanor Blackburn on August 1, 1953; she predeceased him on January 15, 2006. David worked as a pipefitter at Wheeling-Pittsburg Steel in Allenport, PA until his retirement in 1986.
He was a member of the Monessen Masonic Lodge and the Monessen United Methodist Church.
He enjoyed spending summers at the family vacation home at Deep Creek Lake, MD. His hobbies included things that involved aviation, reading, and watching FOX News.
Surviving are his sons, William W. and Robert D. Lewis; his sister-in-law, Jane L. Blackburn; and many dear friends both in Monessen & Wayland.
A memorial service will be held 2 pm, Saturday, January 21st at the Wayland United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations are being accepted to the Monessen or Wayland United Methodist Church Funds. Local arrangements are with the Walter E.
