Douglas F. Conard, 74, of Naples, NY, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 9, 2017 surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer, which he fought with strength, grace and dignity. He was born in Utica, NY on December 30, 1942 to Clifford and Evelyn (Seely) Conard and grew up in Cazenovia, NY where he graduated from Madison Central High School. He served in the U.S. Navy from (1960-1964). Doug worked for Star Headlight and Lantern Company in Avon, NY for over 40 years. Doug was a past member of the Naples Fire Dept. and a leader in Boy Scouts of America. Doug enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.
Doug is predeceased by his parents, his father-in-law, Jim Grove and his daughter, Sally (David) Conard White in 2015.
Doug is survived and will be missed desperately by his loving wife and best friend of 40 years, Becky Grove Conard; daughter, Mary (Jeff) Conard Lopus of Aberdeen, MD; grandchildren, Benjamin, Matthew, Megan and Zachary Lopus; Sarah (Jason) Ferguson Pratt, Kimberly White and great grandchildren, Christopher Prescott, Cody and Katie Pratt of Eden, NC; brother, Dennis Conard of North Syracuse, NY; mother-in-law, Chub Grove of Naples, NY; two brother-in-laws, Doug (Denise) Grove and Peach (Mary Ann) Grove, sister-in-laws, Tina (Joe) Grove Norman and Michaela Mohr, nieces and nephews, Billy (Carrie) Grove, Katresa (Mike) Foster, Greg (Katie) Conard and Jimmy & Libby Grove and; many other dear friends.
Friends may call 1-3 pm Wednesday Sept. 13th at the Naples Bible Church followed by a celebration of his life at 3pm.
