Obituary of Mary Little

Mary Ellen Little, age 78, passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at her home in Bath after a long illness.

Mary Ellen was born September 13, 1939 in Warsaw, a daughter of Anthony & Anna (Schamberger) Rishar. She was a 1957 graduate of Nunda High School; received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Nazareth College in 1961 and her Master's Degree in Professional Studies from Alfred University in 1992. She married Douglas Little on July 29, 1961; he survives. She was first employed at the office of Dr. Roy Robinson for four years, then became an instructor at the St. James School of Nursing in Hornell in 1969. She retired in 2000 from the VA Medical Center in Bath, where she was the acting Chief Executive for Nursing. After retirement she worked at Snell Farm Children's Center in Bath. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her son, David Little in 1990 and 2 dear friends, Marie & Gene Moore.

Mary Ellen was a member of the Tri-County Snowmobile Club and the Cohocton Lioness Club. She volunteered for the Red Cross, SPCA and St. Jude Bike-a-thon in Cohocton. She also attended St. Mary's Catholic Church of Bath.

Mary Ellen enjoyed snowmobiling, was an avid NY Yankees and Buffalo Bills fan, collecting and buying jewelry, automobiles; especially her Lime Green Mustang; but most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren & great grandchildren.

Mary Ellen is survived by her husband of 56 years, Douglas; her daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly & Robby Anger; 3 granddaughters, Stephanie Little, Meaghann (Nick) Snyder and Emily Anger; 2 great grandchildren, Kaylee Little & Brayden Snyder; 1 step-great grandson Evan Snyder; her cocker spaniel "Logan"; also many cousins.

Friends may call 5-8 pm Friday at the Walter E. Baird & Sons Funeral Home, 300 West Naples St., Wayland, where a prayer service will be held at 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 am, Saturday at St. Mary's Church, 32 E Morris St, Bath, NY 14810. Burial will be in the Bath National Cemetery.
