Kathryn E. Fleishman, age 91, passed away peacefully Thursday, Jan. 18, 2018 at Vincent House in Wayland.
Kathryn was born June 19, 1926 in Willing, NY, a daughter of Andrew J. & Alice (Beyea) Newman. She married Victor T. Fleishman on April 16, 1949; he predeceased her on November 2, 2003. Kathryn was a wife, homemaker, mother and co-owner and operator of the family farm in Cohocton. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by a daughter, Sandra; a son, Joseph; siblings, Wayne (Florence) Newman, Milton (Doris) Newman, Andrew (Patricia) Newman, Charles Newman, Agnes (Bill) Faulkner and Joyce (William) Sherwood; brothers-in-law, Rupert Hall & Robert Kennedy.
Kathryn was a member of the St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Bath; she was a former member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church and the Zion Lutheran Church, both in Cohocton. She was active in all of these churches; helping with dinners, baking, cooking and helping in anyway.
She enjoyed volunteering; she volunteered for the Steuben County Office of the Aging, the SPCA, the information booth in Bath and RSVP (Retired & Senior Volunteer Program) in Bath. She also enjoyed crocheting, baking and donating her time to her favorite charities, but most of all she loved spending time with her family & friends.
She is survived by her three children, Julia Tisa, Joan (Lyle) Akins and Jerry Fleishman; her grandchildren, David Tisa, Julie (John) Eckel, Carrie (Mike) Haff, Meghan (John) Schott, Emily (Daniel) Fleishman and Mark (Alyshia) Fleishman; her great-grandchildren, Emma, Evan & Olivia Eckel, Caleigh & Linsey Haff, Oliver Schott & Archer Fleishman; two sisters, Lois Hall & Eva Kennedy; her dear friend, Don Wolfanger; many nieces, nephews & cousins.
Friends may call 12-3 pm Monday at the Walter E. Baird & Sons Funeral Home, 300 West Naples St., Wayland, where funeral services will be at 3 pm.
