Karl H. Maxim Sr., age 79, passed away peacefully Sunday, January 28, 2018 at Livingston County CFNR in Mt. Morris.
Max was born March 14, 1938 in Webster, NY. He was raised by his loving grandmother and his Pa. He married Joyce Hutchings on June 5, 1959; she survives. Max worked for many years as a machine engraver at Roehlen Engraving in Henrietta. After retiring, he and Joyce opened their own business, Maxim Sharpening; where he traveled the east coast, sharpening scissors and knives.
Max enjoyed racing stock cars in his younger years, and in his later years he learned how to ride a dirt bike. He enjoyed riding and supporting his grandsons and son-in-law in Motocross racing. He liked farming, snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, boating, traveling, long car rides and the outdoors. He enjoyed working in the garage, woodworking; and made some beautiful furniture. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren & great-grandchildren.
Max is survived by his wife of 58 years, Joyce; 3 children, Karl Maxim Jr., Lori Maxim-Riley (Tim Riley) and Alicia (Jim) DiSalvo; his grandchildren, Ryan O'Leary, Timothy O'Leary (fiancé Kaitlyn Brooks), Collen O'Leary, Micah (Amanda) Maxim, Matthew Maxim, Michael DiSalvo and Karly DiSalvo, Cory (Felicia) Riley, Daniel (Lisa) Wood and Brandy (Phil) Berry; many great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Hollene Scarfone; many nieces, nephews & cousins.
Friends may call 12-2 pm Saturday at the Walter E. Baird & Sons Funeral Home, 300 West Naples St., Wayland, where funeral services will be held at 2 pm. Burial will be in the Village Cemetery, Wayland.
