Tracy C. Harter, age 82, passed away Sunday, February 12, 2017 at his home after a long illness.
Tracy was born November 21, 1934 in Dansville, a son of Myron & Cassandria (Cole) Harter. He was a graduate of the Wayland High School. He married Eva Lynn Wilkinson on November 26, 1955; she survives. He was a spindle carver/sander at the Gunlocke Co. in Wayland, retiring in 1997. In addition to his parents, Tracy was predeceased by a granddaughter, Heidi Rawleigh; a grandson, Michael Eggleston; 3 brothers, Donald, DeMyrle & Robert Harter; and 2 sisters, Ruby Brundage & Eloise Swarts.
He was a former member of the Wayland Oddfellows and the Gunlocke Bowling League. He enjoyed John Deere Tractors, farming, mowing; especially the cemetery at Loon Lake and the Point at Loon Lake, he also liked cutting wood, the NY Yankees and Buffalo Bills, but most of all he loved spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.
Tracy is survived by his wife of 61 years, Eva Lynn; his children, Beth (Neil) Sauerbier, Debbie (Roger) Boisbert, Tracie Lynn (Michael) Simons, Marty (Terri) Harter and Kelly (Jim) Shaffer; 24 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Margaret (Dan) Downey, Wilma (Frank) King and Illa France; 1 sister-in-law, Eloise Harter; several nieces, nephews & cousins.
A memorial service will be held 6 pm Friday at the First Presbyterian Church, 54 Maple Ave., Cohocton. Donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
