Obituary of James Heiman

James J. Heiman, age 83, passed away peacefully Friday, March 24, 2017 at the Vincent House in Wayland, surrounded by his family.

Jim was born July 17, 1933 in Groveland, a son of Henry & Magdalen (Bricks) Heiman. Jim was a longtime employee of Foster Wheeler, retiring after 35 years. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his brothers, Robert & William Heiman, his sister & brother-in-law, Marian & William Hursh and a great granddaughter, Brooke Price.

He was a lifelong communicant of Holy Family Catholic Community at St. Mary's and Sacred Heart, and was a dedicated member of Jackson Hose Fire Company in Dansville.

Jim was an adoring fan of baseball; having played, also watching his children and grandchildren play and watching the game on television and in the stands; he also loved to watch softball, and liked to bowl. He was a great enthusiast of the NY Giants and the LA Dodgers (even back when they were the Brooklyn Dodgers!). A devotee of the lottery; Jim frequently played in hopes of winning big. All who were close to him knew that if he won, all the money would have gone straight to his family. Jim will be remembered as a wonderful family man who lived life to the fullest, always cherishing every moment spent with loved ones.

Jim is survived by his wife, Lois; his sisters, Norma Cotton & Rita Templeton; his brother and sister-in-law, Gerald & Roseanne Heiman; and sister-in-law & brother-in-law, Jeanette & Dewey Davis; his children, Henry (Molly) Heiman, Michael (Anne) Heiman, Janice Dunham (Timothy McQuiggan), Anne (Donald) Shaffer, Richard (Diane) Heiman and Kenneth (Janet) Heiman; 20 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call 2-6 pm TODAY (Sunday) at the Chamberlin – Baird Funeral Home, 73 Main St., Dansville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 am, Monday at Sacred Heart Church, 11119 Chapel St., Perkinsville, NY 14529. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Dansville.
