Naples Merton Eldon Woodard, age 82, passed away on Sunday, May 24 in Canandaigua. Merton was born on October 27, 1937 in Naples to the late Merton & Marion Woodard. Merton honorably served our country as a combat engineer in the US Army Reserves from December 1958 until December of 1966. He was an equipment operator for the New York State Department of Transportation, enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching NASCAR, listening to country music and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Merton was also predeceased by his wife, Wilma in 2017. Merton is survived by his children: Dawn (Louis) Carrera, Leanna Snyder, Dorinda Corso, & Jason (Anne) Woodard; his grandchildren: Lena, Leesha, Louis, Autumn, Austin, Britteny (Clay), Nina, Kayla, Amber & Jason Jr.; his great-grandchildren: Zach, Kiarra, Eli, Carebella, Gianna, Onaleigha, Rylan & Hayes; and many nieces, nephews & cousins. Merton's immediate family will celebrate a private graveside service with full military honors. Burial will be in Rose Ridge Cemetery in Naples next to his wife.
