William J. "Bill" Paulus III, age 72, passed away on Monday, September 20, 2021 at his home in Wayland with his wife by his side. Bill was born on February 1, 1949 in Rochester to William & Maxine (Davis) Paulus Jr. Bill proudly served our country during the Vietnam War in the United States Marine Corps. Bill was a character and when he was around, there was never a dull moment. He loved the Lord and music; he was even a founding member of the, "River Dust Band" in Memphis TN and was affectionately known as "Memphis Bill" which was his karaoke name. Bill was a member of the Wayland United Methodist Church, the Wayland UMC Choir, & the Waylandaires. He helped with the Springwater Spaghetti Jams when they still held them and wouldn't miss a WWE fight on a Saturday night. He has a passion for Matchbox Cars (he collected hundreds of them) and his 1969 Dodge Dart Swinger that was "Goofy Grape" color. Bill is survived by his wife of over 15 years, Sharon (Menz) Paulus; his parents: William & Maxine Paulus; his children: Kristy Roth, Mandy (Jeff) Greenwald, Amie Paulus & William "Jonas" (Christine) Paulus IV; his stepchildren: John (Denise) Bendzus III, Tammy (Tyler) Walker, Nicholas (Amanda) Bendzus & Zachary Arnold; his siblings: Suzanne (Bruce) Sullivan, Linda (David) Schultz, Cheryl (Joe) Scibetta & Robert "Bobby" (Carrie) Paulus; several grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and many nieces, nephews, cousins & friends. Family & friends are invited to call from 10am - 11am on Friday, October 22nd, 2021 at the Wayland United Methodist Church, 1 East Ave., Wayland NY 14572 where funeral services will be held at 11am. Burial with full military honors will immediately follow at the Bath National Cemetery.
