Obituary of Margaret Reidy

Margaret (Peg) (Babes) Sherry Standish Reidy 09/05/1931 – 01/11/2018, 86 passed away peacefully Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Homestead Nursing Home in Penn Yan, NY.

Babes was born September 05, 1931 in Brooklyn, NY the third child of William and Margaret (Peg) Sherry. They spent some of her early years living on Long Island before moving back to Canandaigua and Bloomfield, NY. She married John F. Standish on 05/01/1954. He pre-deceased her on 1970. She worked on the Presidential Campaign for Robert Kennedy and she worked with Howard Samuels at Kordite and then for his campaign for office in NY. After her husband John passed she was able to successfully raise their teenage son John Jeffery and their toddler daughter Margaret Ellen (Peggy). Along with her parents and 1st husband she is predeceased by her 2nd husband Lawrence Reidy and both her sister Phyllis Mary(Sherry) Kurtz and her husband Dave and by her brother William Sherry and his wife Jean (Burns) as well as many cousins and some nieces and nephews.

While she and her husband John and family lived in Salamanca she rode an elephant in a circus. She worked as a secretary and as a Real Estate Broker. She moved her family from NC after John passed away back to Canandaigua, then to Boulder, CO and eventually back to NC. Coming back to NY in 1986 to be closer to her mother.

Babes is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John Jeffery and MaryAnn (Chociej) Standish and their daughter Hannah Rose Standish. Also Babes' daughter Margaret Ellen (Peggy) and her son and his wife John Anthony Standish and Danielle (Cupo) Standish, and 3 great-grandchildren Jordan Anthony, Aubrey Renee and Lillianna Rose, also some cousins, nieces and nephews.

Friends may call 4-7 PM Thursday for the Memorial calling at the Baird - Moore Funeral Home, 154 S. Main St., Naples, NY; where a commital service will held @ 6:45 pm.
