James E. Uhl, age 74, passed away unexpectedly Friday, June 22, 2018 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.
Jim was born October 2, 1943 in Hornell. He was a metal fabricator working for the Sheet Metal Union Local # 46 in Rochester for over 40 years. He married Joyce DeMeyers on August 20, 1966; she survives.
Jim enjoyed fishing, mowing, reading the newspaper, watching Sunday football with Joyce and tinkering with old machinery; but most of all he loved spending time with his wife, son & grandchildren.
Jim is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Joyce; his son, Eric Uhl (Katheryne Hassman); his grandchildren, Jillian Uhl & Ethan Uhl; his brothers-in-law, Jackson (Georgia) DeMeyers & Randy DeMeyers; a dear niece, Alyx Uhl and her mother, Robin Oxx; many cousins.
Friends may call 2-4 & 6-8 pm Tuesday at the Walter E. Baird & Sons Funeral Home, 300 West Naples St., Wayland, where funeral services will be held 11 am Wednesday. Burial will be in the Village Cemetery, Wayland.
