Obituary of Beverly Cudney

Beverly Ann Cudney (nee Swanson), passed away Saturday, October 6th, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family.

Bev was born October 30, 1948 in Buffalo to Robert & Louise (Smith) Swanson. She was a graduate of West Seneca Central High School and the Doyle School of Cosmetology. She was a retired Member Services Coordinator from the Serv-U Credit Union in Hornell. When Mark and Bev were married they lived in Honolulu, Hawaii, then in San Diego, California, where Mark was stationed with the US Navy. At the end of his tour they settled in Derby, NY until their children were grown, and Mark found new employment in Rochester, NY. They relocated to acreage near Wayland, NY and restored a 100 year old barn in which Bev's many talents flourished.

Bev enjoyed flower gardening and floral arranging, sewing, crocheting, knitting and watercolor painting. Her love of her natural surroundings was reflected in her arts and crafts. She enjoyed bird watching and taming resident chipmunks to eat from her hand. She enjoyed cooking above all else and collected cook books, inspiring her grandchildren in the kitchen. Her annual Christmas feast was a festive family tradition that all looked forward to. Above all else, her children and grandchildren were her greatest joys.

Bev was the beloved wife of Mark Cudney; the dearest mother of Jolie (Timothy) Hibit & Craig (Mary) Cudney; most beloved grandmother of Max, Caleb, Zachary, Wyatt, Nathan, Norah & Cora; daughter of the late Louise (Smith) Ullrich, the late Robert Swanson and step-daughter of the late Robert Ullrich; sister of Wayne (Joanne) Swanson; sister-in-law of Sue (late Bernard) Springer and Beverly (Donald) Cappuzzo; step-sister of John Ullrich and late Janet (late Alan) Fowler; aunt of Eric (Lisa) Swanson, Brett (Stephanie) Swanson, Daren (Kathy) Springer, late Lauri (Patrick) McCusker, Dino (Sue) Cappuzzo, Dan Cappuzzo, Dina (Rich) Schifano and Gwen Rosenthal.
