Helen V. (Deleo) Gilman, age 89, passed away peacefully Thursday, Nov. 22, 2018 at Guthrie Corning Hospital.
Helen was born June 14, 1929 in Cohocton, a daughter of Michael & Magdalina (Mutto) Deleo.
Helen worked for many years at the Little Doe Restaurant in Cohocton, and then as head cook for Smokey's Truck Stop in Kanona and the Cottage Inn in Cohocton. Helen was predeceased by her parents, her husband James Gilman Sr. and several brothers & sisters.
Helen was a past member of the Cohocton Fire Dept. Women's Auxiliary.
Helen enjoyed crossword puzzles, word search, putting puzzles together, western movies and most of all she loved her canine companion "Molly".
Helen is survived by her sister, Mary DiSanto; her children, James (Vanessa) Gilman, Francis (Tammy) Gilman, Mike (Debbie) Gilman, Larry (Fa) Gilman, Tom (Donna) Gilman, Bobby (Sherry) Gilman and Dorothy (Neal) Kellogg; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews & cousins.
Per Helen's request, there will be no calling or services. She will be inurned next to her husband at the Bath National Cemetery.
