Charles Stewart Fairbrother, age 84, passed away peacefully Monday, July 8, 2019 at Highland Hospital in Rochester.
Charles was born July 14, 1934 in the Town of Cohocton, a son of Daniel & M. Fannie (Stryker) Fairbrother. He married Shirley Wagner on July 14, 1956, she survives. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army; serving active duty from 1957 to 1959 in Germany. He was employed at Cohocton Creamery and retired from Rochester Laborers union in 1994. In addition to his parents, Charles was predeceased by twin sons, Kevin and Keith; also brothers and sisters, Bud Fairbrother, Betty Gonyea, Joyce Guerette, Laura Emmons, Kathleen Zeh, Ernestine Schubmehl and Don Fairbrother.
Charles was a Green Bay Packers, Los Angeles Dodgers and Columbus Blue Jackets fan. Love taking the boat out to go bass fishing with his son Greg, playing golf, gardening, spending winters in Florida and most of all enjoying time with his family. He especially loved taking his great-grandchildren down to the creek to throw stones.
Charles is survived by his wife of 62 years, Shirley; his son, Greg (Renee) Fairbrother; his daughters, Kim (John) Adams and Karen (Mark) Ott; five grandchildren, Chad (Laura) Ott, Amanda (Kevin) Collins, Kayla Ott, Brian (Stephanie) Adams, Malia Fairbrother; six great-grandchildren, Audrey Collins, Whitney Ott, Elizabeth Adams, Karli Collins, Colin Ott and William Adams; his sisters, Geraldine Bolster, Wilma Gibson and Donna Flint; his brother, Glenn Fairbrother; many sisters-in-laws, brother-in-laws, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call 4-6 pm Thursday at the Walter E. Baird & Sons Funeral Home, 300 West Naples St., Wayland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 am, Friday at St. Pius V Church, Maple Ave., Cohocton. Burial will be in St. Pius Cemetery, Cohocton.
