Obituary of Oliver Crist
Oliver "Ollie" Eugene Crist, age 89, of Naples NY, lost his battle with Alzheimer's disease surrounded by the love of his family on October 13, 2020 in Batavia NY. Oliver was born in Rochester NY to the late Kenneth and Doris (Harris) on December 21, 1930. He grew up doing what he loved most with his 5 brothers: Douglas, William, Gordon, David and Vernon; riding bikes, playing with their many dogs, sledding in winter, hunting, fishing and family gatherings in Avon with his large extended family. Oliver served in the Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Alaska and was honorably discharged. He married L Suzanne Rogers and had 2 sons, Steven Eugene and Scott Roger. Oliver was a Master Electrician for Otis elevator until he retired. He moved to Naples NY where he fell in love the area and started his fish hatchery. He loved making his own wine and sharing it with friends and family at one of his pig roast's or brush burns. You could always find him playing golf. He was the master Golfsmith for Naples Reservoir Creek. He was a member of the Masons for over 50 years both in Naples and Hilton NY. Oliver is survived by his children: Steve & Rose (Barone) Crist of Spencerport and Scott Crist of North Carolina; his grandchildren: Carolanne and Josh Saginario; Kenneth and Kate Crist; 2 great granddaughters: Arya Rhys Crist and Quinn Rose Saginario; his brothers: David & Vernon and sister-in-law Eleanor Crist; along with many nieces and nephews; special friends, Don Shaw and Dorothy Alcock. He's now gathered at the table with his parents Ken and Doris Crist, and siblings Doug, Bill and Gordy along with Cricket, Libby. A memorial service will be held at a later date in the spring because of COVID. We are comforted knowing that Oliver Crist knows who Oliver Crist is again. We would like to thank everyone at NYS Vets home in Batavia for their loving care giving to our beloved father. Donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association or NYS Vets Home in Batavia.
