George A. "Satch" Chapman, age 77, passed away unexpectedly early Friday, March 12, 2021. Satch was born in Bath on January 21, 1944 to the late George & Myrtle (Harris) Chapman. He was known throughout local communities and lived in Avoca. Satch loved sports, his favorite being softball and baseball. Anyone who played Little League, Babe Ruth baseball or was a part of any softball tournaments knew Satch as a coach, manager, sponsor, or friend. He loved the sport and supported teams in any way he could. In addition to his parents, Satch is predeceased by his son, James Chapman. Satch is survived by his children: George B. Chapman, Ginger (Bruce) Weldy, & Charles Chapman; sister: Barbara Savoia; 15 Grandchildren, 18 Great Grandchildren; 2 half-brothers & 3 half-sisters; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. Funeral services will be held privately. To those who wish to make a memorial contribution- an annual softball tournament held in Satch's memory is being planned, details will be available at a later date.
