Paul Allen Collen, age 52, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 in Rochester.
Allen was born on March 3, 1969 in Greenville, South Carolina. Allen would go on to serve our country by joining the military when he was 17 and was honorably discharged in 1990; he was a Ranger in the Special Forces.
In 2001, Allen moved to Wayland, New York and has been a resident ever since. Allen was a husband, father, uncle, grandfather, and brother-in-law. He worked & volunteered in numerous fire department/EMS organizations, he worked construction, honored his military brothers and sisters by providing honor guard detail in many military funerals, and was a proud veteran. In his spare time, Allen enjoyed fishing, hunting, the military, having drinks with friends, dirt races & drag races, early morning country rides and late night talks. He also liked older country music, dancing in the early morning under night skies. Allen had a way of making people laugh and always had his friends' back.
Allen is survived by his wife, Dawn (Cromp) Collen; his daughters: Morgan (McKenzie) Chastain & Tallen (Matthew Blake) Collen; his sons: Josh (Hayley) Cromp Sr., Dalton (Kimberlee) Collen & Memphis Collen; and his grandchildren: McKinzley Chastain, Skyler Collen, Allen Collen, Josh Cromp Jr., Rowan Cromp, Ellisabeth Allison & Daniel Blake.
Family and friends are invited to call from 4pm – 7pm on Friday, October 29, 2021 at the Walter E. Baird & Sons Funeral Home, Inc. in Wayland, where a military service will be held at 7pm. A Celebration of Life with food & fellowship will be held at 11am on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at the Wayland American Legion, 102 N. Main St., Wayland NY 14572.
