Lucille Helen (Wulforst) Wagner, age 86 was called home to God on October 23rd, 2021.
Lucille was born November 26, 1934 in Hicksville, NY; a daughter of John F and Magdalena (Hoeffner) Wulforst. Her family moved to the Wayland area in 1944 and she has resided there her entire life. She was a 1952 graduate of Wayland Central School. She went on to earn a degree from the Rochester Business Institute and for a brief period of time worked at FA Owens in Dansville, NY. Lucille married Francis Jay Wagner of Cohocton on October 5, 1957; she predeceased her in October of 1993. Together they had six children and have eight grandchildren. Lucille's career as a Bus Driver for Wayland Central School spanned over 25 years. Then, in her retirement, she attended Finger Lakes School of Massage and began her
second career as a Massage Therapist. She brought a relaxing touch to all her customers. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Lou in 1985, a son, Stephen in 1991, a sister, Madelyn Quirk in 1997, and a brother, John in 2021.
Lucille was a dedicated communicant member of the Holy Family Catholic Community, an active member of The Bone Builders Group, Trust in the Lives of Older Women, Bible Study Group at Seventh Day Adventist Church. Lucille served on the Board of Directors for the Vincent House Hospice Facility, and the St Vincent DePaul Society of the Holy Family Catholic Community. She loved her flower gardens, making jams, cooking and baking and St Joseph's Church. Lucille was known in the community for sharing her love of God, knowledge of the Bible and comforting words in times of trouble.
Lucille is survived by her sons; Francis Wagner, John (Melissa) Wagner and Patrick Wagner; her daughter, Susan (Mark) Walker; her beloved grandchildren, Ryan, Christopher, Jon (Amanda), Catherine, Daniel, Morgan, Stephen and Lauren; her two sisters, Virginia Huber and Lillian Eickelberger; her three sisters-in-law, Shirley Fairbrother, Mary (Henry) Miller and JoAnne Wulforst; plus numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held 4-7 pm Thursday, Oct. 28th at Walter E. Baird & Sons Funeral Home, 300 West Naples St., Wayland. A Funeral Mass will be held 11 am, Friday, Oct. 29th at St Joseph's Catholic Church in Wayland. Burial will follow at St Joseph's Cemetery in Wayland.
