Obituary of Suzanne M. May

Suzanne M. (Reding) May, age 60, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family, on Wednesday, December 08, 2021. Sue was born on January 4, 1961 in Buffalo to the late Gerald F. & Josephine B. (Tabone) Reding. Sue was a pillar in the community and that is proven by her many accomplishments over the years. She was a billing specialist for Livingston Mutual Insurance but spent most of her time doing volunteer work. Sue was a proud Wayland-Cohocton Central School Board of Education chairperson for 13 years, has been part of the Devin A. Snyder Memorial Foundation since its inception, she played an integral part in fundraising for the Victory Park playground; she also volunteered her time at the Vincent House in Wayland. Sue was a devout Catholic and truly cared about the church. She was part of the Liturgy Committee of Holy Family Catholic Community, a Lectern Eucharistic Minister, co-chaired the St. Joe's Festival for many years, and was on the Kenya School Project committee at St. Joe's as well. When Sue wasn't doing community outreach work, she enjoyed cooking for her family, doing puzzles, and occasionally trying her luck with scratch-offs. In her younger years, Sue played softball, bowled and golfed. Nothing brought more happiness or joy, though, than spending time with her loving children and doting over her beloved grandchildren. Sue will be sorely missed by her devoted husband of 37 years, Mark May; her children: Ali (Patrick Jaouen) Vallario, Emily (Ryan) Duffy & Matthew May; her grandchildren: Maddox, Tanner & Jackson; her siblings: Kathleen (Tom) Johnson & Michele (Wayne Rademacker) Colegrove; and many special nieces, nephews, cousins, colleagues, & friends. Family and friends are invited to call from 1pm – 5pm on Sunday, December 12, 2021 at the Walter E. Baird & Sons Funeral Home, Inc. at 300 W. Naples Street in Wayland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am on Monday, December 13, 2021 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Wayland. Burial with committal prayers will be held at St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial contribution to the Vincent House, PO Box 566, Wayland NY 14572, in memory of Suzanne M. May.
