Obituary of Helen A. Rawleigh

Helen A. Rawleigh, age 90, left her earthly body in the early morning of December 26, 2021, surrounded by her loving children, joining her Heavenly Father, late husband, DeWitt C. Rawleigh; children: Michael D. Rawleigh, Andy Rawleigh & Steven Rawleigh; granddaughter, Heidi L. Rawleigh; grandson, Jamin Allen; and great-granddaughter, Hannah Swain. Helen was born on December 22, 1931 to the late Alfred & Leola (Eichorn) Clymo in South Dansville (Beechville), where she resided until she and Dewitt were married on June 30, 1950. Together, Helen & De celebrated 60 years of marriage until his passing on July 8, 2010. Helen worked most of her adult life raising children with De. She held various jobs, one being the store clerk at the Old Country Store in Cohocton. Helen's favorite things were always family-oriented; she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, & great-grandchildren; Helen will be terribly missed by them all and she will always hold a special place in all of their hearts. In addition to family members mentioned, Helen is also predeceased by her sisters, Alberta Selbig of Florida, Marjorie (Arthur) Morsch of Dansville and Betty (Joe) Kirby of Camp Verde, Arizona. Helen is survived by her children: Joe (Sue) Rawleigh, Richard (JoAnn) Rawleigh, Jean Sahrle, Sandy (Keith) Saxton, Jeff (Imelda) Rawleigh and Carol (Mike) Allen; daughter-in-law, Beth Harter-Sauerbier; 31 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren; her siblings: Ardeen (JoAnn) Clymo, Gary Clymo and Dorothy Buchanan; and several nieces, nephews & cousins. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Walter E. Baird & Sons Funeral Home, Inc. in Wayland. Because of the global pandemic, Helen's immediate family will have a private family service at the funeral home. Family & friends are invited to a public graveside service at 12pm on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at Lakeside (Loon Lake) Cemetery in Wayland. Facial coverings are appreciated. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial contribution to the American Kidney Association, The Hornell Humane Society, as Helen held a special place in heart for her sheltie dogs, Maggie & Becky, or a charity of your choice.
