David Kelly Thomas, 07/02/59-01/03/22
David passed away peacefully on the 3rd of January, to the sounds of his favorite music and in the company of loved ones. He is predeceased and survived by those he loved, and those who love him.
To say that everyone knew "Dave" would not be hyperbole. From the city of Rochester, to the hills of Springwater, to the village of Dansvillle, Dave connected with people. It was not uncommon for people to stop into "the shop" just to have a conversation with Dave regardless of whether or not they needed a haircut. He was always willing to lend an ear and was more than happy to share his thoughts on the subjects that he was passionate about. Over the past two decades as Dave established himself as a businessman on Main Street in Dansville, he unwittingly cemented himself as a symbol of consistency that provided a sense of comfort and normalcy to the people of his community. If you travelled down Main Street during the day, (with Wednesday and Sunday being the exceptions), you could expect to see Dave.
Throughout the sixty-two years of his life, Dave refined many skills and acquired many hobbies. He built houses and decks, soldered and glued pipes, went scuba diving, played the drums, coached little league, machined, drove school bus, and barbered. He was passionate about his community, reading, baseball, college basketball, good food, good music, hunting, hot air balloons, and boating on Keuka Lake.
Dave loved his freedom, his friends, and most of all those that he called his family. He was a good man, caring brother, cool uncle, devoted son, doting grandfather, a loving partner and friend, and a great father. He will be missed but never forgotten, and loved forever.
A celebration of life is being planned for a future date so that we may all celebrate Dave responsibly and safely. If you are looking for a way to honor Dave's memory in the meantime, please consider a donation in his name to one of the organizations below.
