Joseph A. King Jr., age 87, passed away on Friday, February 4, 2022 at the Livingston County CNR.
Joe was born on August 27, 1934 in Dansville to the late Joseph A. & Anna E. (Farrell) King Sr.
In Joe's early years, he started working on the farm. He would go on to work at Foster Wheeler in Dansville for a few years but would eventually retire from Kodak as a Group Leader Foreman after 30 years. In June of 1958, he & Janice M. Clayson married and together spent almost 64 years of marriage together and raised 3 kids.
Joe and Jan took up bowling in their younger years and would continue to enjoy it for decades; they also enjoyed square-dancing together. Joe was an avid hunter and would oversee Boy Scout Troop 38 with Jan while their boys were a part of it.
Joe was a man of God and was devoted to the church, he was a life member of the Holy Family Catholic Community. He was also a Grand Knight and 50+ year member of the Knights of Columbus; a life member of the Dansville Fire Department/Dansville Protectives, he drove for the Dansville Ambulance Company and was a member of the Western New York Volunteer Firemen's Association. Though Joe was proud of his community involvement, nothing brought him more joy than spending time with his family.
Joe is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 64 years, Janice; his children: Alan (Tina) King, Julie (Todd) Wolfer & Aron (Carol) King; several grandchildren & great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Joe is predeceased by his siblings: Joanne King & John King.
Family and friends are invited to call from 4pm – 7pm on Monday, February 7, 2022 at the Walter E. Baird & Sons Funeral Home, Inc. in Wayland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Dansville. Joe will be buried in Holy Cross Cemetery.
