John M. Polland, age 74, peacefully passed away at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville on Friday, February 25, 2022.
John was born in Buffalo on January 20, 1948 to the late Arthur & Katherine (Goetz) Polland. He retired from Wegmans after 20 years of refrigeration/maintenance work, enjoyed boating, fishing and being outdoors. John was a gentle giant, had a huge heart, was a friend to everyone and genuinely enjoyed helping others; nothing brought him more joy though, than his grandsons whom he loved very much.
In addition to his parents, John is also predeceased by his sister and brother-in-law, Bonita & Gene Westphal.
John is survived by his loving children: Michael (Beth) Polland & Daniel Polland and their mother, Cathy Folts; his beloved grandchildren: Christopher, Joshua & William Polland; his siblings: Constance (Jack) Rokitka & David Polland; nieces & nephews: Fr. Nicolas Rokitka, OFM. Conv., Wendy Nylen, Scott Westphal, & Cindy Polland; cousins & many friends. We would like to give special thanks to Chris Drake whom John expressed was like a brother to him, his wife, Cyndy and their children, Kaydence & Sam.
Per John's wishes, the family will host a memorial service and celebration of his life at a later date.
In lieu of flowers or donations, please do as John would have done and pay it forward to someone who is in need. “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ The second is this, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”
