Edward A. Cornbau Jr., age 78, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, March 14, 2022 surrounded by family.
Ed was born on August 20, 1943 in Dansville to the late Edward & Katherine (Stauffer) Cornbau Sr. Ed was a 1963 graduate of Dansville Central School and was an engineer in the US Army Reserves from 1965 to 1969. He worked as an overhead crane operator at Delco Products in Rochester for 35 years and worked at the Dansville Auto Auction for 5 years.
Ed was a family man and loved his community; many know him as, "The Candy Man." Ed is also referred to as, "dad" by those who really got to know and love him. Ed loved to volunteer and donate money to charity organizations. He was a proud 50-year member of the Dansville Moose Club and was also a member of the Conesus Lake Riders Club. Ed was a Dansville Little League umpire for 28 years and an assistant coach for 4 years. He was an avid Brave's fan and would only ride Honda motorcycles! Ed and his family enjoyed snowmobiling in the winter and would camp every summer in the Adirondack Mountains. Ed was a good & honest man and will be missed by everyone.
In addition to his parents, Ed is also predeceased by his brothers-in-law: Harold Pfuntner & Ken Johnson.
Ed is survived by his children: Mary Kay (Richard) Rusinski & Brian (Kristina) Cornbau; his grandchildren: Matthew (Elizabeth Lane) Rusinski, Eli Cornbau, Zachary Rusinski, Travis Cornbau & Elizabeth Rusinski; his great-granddaughter, Sophia Rusinski; his sisters: Judy Johnson & Vivian Pfuntner; and many nieces, nephews, cousins & friends.
Family & friends are invited to call from 4pm – 7pm on Friday, March 18, 2022 at the Chamberlin-Baird Funeral Home in Dansville. Ed's funeral service will be held at 11am on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at the funeral home. Burial with committal prayers will take place at Greenmount Cemetery.
