Melvin K. (né Redinger) Mensinger, age 88 of Scottsburg NY, passed away on Friday, May 20, 2022 at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville.
Melvin was born on April 30, 1934 in Niagara Falls NY to the late Kenneth & Mildred (Hickok) Redinger. Melvin served our country in the US Army from 1956-1958 and was a heavy equipment mechanic at the International Salt Mine in Retsof NY prior to retiring and was a member of the Scottsburg United Methodist Church.
Melvin had many joys in life! He loved trains and had many model trains and his own train board; he loved to fish, garden (both flowers & vegetables). He was a carpenter/wood-worker/mechanic and could fix just about anything and could make anything old become new again. Melvin cared about people and had a unique smile- he was always willing to help; whether it was making someone a meal or giving them a place to sleep, Melvin was there.
In addition to his parents, Melvin is predeceased by his daughter, Wendy (Mensinger) (Michael) Colletta; his step-father, Roland Mensinger; his brothers: Kenneth (Vicky) & John (Mary) Mensinger; and his sister, Marjory (Mensinger) (Charles) Moose.
Melvin is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Linda (George) Mensinger; his loving children: Terri (Ronald) Bowers, Karen (Steven) Griffith & Melvin (Pam) Mensinger; his grandchildren: Amy (Brian) Almeida, Kristina (Nicholas) Crognale, Kailey (Maurice) Mongeon, Alaina & Brandon Colletta, Lucas & Elizabeth Mensinger; his step-grandchildren: Julie (Bowers) Blair, Michelle & Cindy Bowers; his 6 great-grandchildren: Isabella, Alessia, Domenic & Sophia Crognale, Nova Mongeon & Zayley Loomis; his half-brother, Mark Mensinger; and several nieces & nephews.
Family & friends are invited to call from 12pm - 1pm on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at the Scottsburg United Methodist Church, 7331 NY-256, Scottsburg NY 14545 where funeral services will be held at 1pm.
