Obituary of Richard E. Ardell

ARDELL, Richard E. Dick Dansville/Wayland, Richard Eldridge Dick Ardell, age 84, passed away peacefully, Monday, March 19, 2007 at his winter residence in Florida. Dick was born April 12, 1922 in Atlanta, NY, a son of Harry & Eva (Eldridge) Ardell. From 1943 to 1945 he served as a Lieutenant with the 463rd Bomb Group, Army Air Corps piloting a B-17 out of Italy. Upon discharge he completed his college education and graduated from Cornell University in 1947 with a degree in Agronomy. He was employed by International Harvestor (Birdseye Division of General Foods) in Wayland, Avon, Caribou, ME and Lafayette, IN. After retiring from General Foods, he moved to California and was employed by Maggoria Bros. Well Drilling as an estimator until 1987. He then married the former Lola (Pragle) Glady and they moved to Dansville where they lived for 17 years. Dick was a member of Wayland Lions Club and a former member of the Atlanta Presbyterian Church. He was an avid hunter with buddies Bob Wallace & Steve Malter. He is survived by his loving wife Lola; 3 daughters, Elaine (Rick) Osburn of Lafayette, IN, Danelle Ardell of Pittsburg, PA and Wendy Ardell (Greg Fritsch) of Paradise, CA; his grandchildren, Carrie Fritsch of Chico, CA, Merlyn Kushner of Dallas, TX, Owen Feigel & Anna Feigel both of Lafayette, IN; his step-daughter, Laurie Drescher of Raleigh, NC; step-son, Robin Glady of Niagara Falls; step granddaughters, Lee Ann (Charles) Mallard of New Burn, NC, Jenna Drescher of Lillington, NC; step-grandson, Teddy Drescher of Lillington, NC; several nieces, nephews & cousins. Friends may call 2-4 & 7-9 pm, Friday at the Walter E. Baird & Sons Funeral Home, 100 E. Naples St., Wayland, where funeral services will be held at 11 am, Saturday, followed by burial with full military honors at Clearview Cemetery, N. Cohocton. Contributions may be made to the VNA Association and Hospice Foundation, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960 in memory of Richard E. Dick Ardell.
