Obituary of Virginia F. Holbrook

HOLBROOK, Virginia F. Cohocton, Virginia F. Holbrook, age 74, passed away peacefully Monday, March 26, 2007 at her home surrounded by her loving family, after a long illness. Virginia was born April 19, 1932 in Portage, a daughter of Fredrick & Virginia (Van Winkle) Long. She married William Holbrook on January 19, 1959; he survives. She worked at Moore-Cottrell in N. Cohocton and as a cafeteria monitor at Wayland Central School retiring in 1993. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by 2 sisters, Helen Gross & Mariann Welton, 2 brothers, Donald Long & Harold Long and 1 grandson, Jason Holbrook. She enjoyed playing cards, spending summers in their home in Cohocton and wintering in Sebring, FL, camping, flea markets and shopping, but most of all she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and friends. Virginia is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, William; her children, Kim (Joe) LaFrisco of Cohocton, Bonnie (Dave) Brooker of Sebring, FL, Michael Holbrook (Ann Gilbert) of Dansville, David (Kristine) Holbrook and Kevin Holbrook all of Cohocton; 9 grandchildren, David Jr., James, Keith, Lisa, David, Raymond, Billie Jo, Christofer & Brady; 16 Great Grandchildren; several nieces, nephews & cousins. Friends may call 2-4 & 7-9 pm, Wednesday at the Walter E. Baird & Sons Funeral Home, 100 E. Naples St., Wayland, where funeral services will be held 11 am, Thursday. Burial will be in Clearview Cemetery, N. Cohocton. Contributions may be made to the Southern Tier Hospice, 11751 E. Corning Rd., Corning, NY 14830.
